Raising Public Awareness
This company has been working on the development of high-speed and urban monorails in Australian and New Zealand for over nine years. The CAMCOS, Gold Coast LRT and Petrie to Kippa Ring studies only made comparisons to low speed theme park monorails in the Corridor Assessment Process. Urban mass transit monorail systems were not evaluated. High-speed monorail systems are presently being proposed in North America, China and the Netherlands .
High-speed monorail can be constructed for approximately the same cost as heavy rail and in some cases constructed even cheaper. Urban mass transit monorails can sometimes be costly to construct but almost always operate with far less taxpayer subsidies than LRT trams and commuter trains. The travelling time from Kippa-Ring to Brisbane via Petrie on a traditional heavy rail type train or bus would be too slow to attract daily commuters who work in Brisbane. Likewise commuting from Maroochydore to Brisbane on a heavy rail train or bus would be too slow to attract daily commuters, which in turn would fail to relieve traffic congestion on our roads and increase pollution. Compared to monorail, heavy rail and trams would likely have little or no effect on assisting the tourist industry. Click here to see a route map of the Delta Link High Speed Monorail Project.
No matter what comparison you like to make whether it be safety, cost, physical appearance, the environment , corridor alignment, or just reliability, monorail beats the others every time. Yet this state government doesn't want to talk about it. Perhaps a few more voices might wake them up before it is too late.
